கும்பகோணத்துக்கு அருகில் உள்ளது திருபுவனம். பழைய பெயர் 'திருபுவன வீரபுரம்' என்பது கோயில் கல்வெட்டிலிருந்து தெரிகிறது. மூன்றாம் குலோத்துங்கன் கட்டிய கோயில். அங்கே சுவாமி ' கம்பஹரேஸ்வரர்'..பயத்தைப் போக்கும் பரமேஸ்வரன். அங்குள்ள சில சிற்பங்கள் ...சில்பியின் கைவண்ணத்தில்!

 இக்கட்டுரை  1954-இல் வந்திருக்க வேண்டும் என்று நினைக்கிறேன். ஏனென்றால், இதில் உள்ள இரு படங்களைப் பார்த்து உடனே நான்  வரைந்தவை கீழே உள்ளன ! :-)

                                      

 ஸ்ரீ சிவகாம சுந்தரி கோயில் வெளிப்பிரகாரத்தின் வடமேற்கு மூலையில் உள்ள நாட்டிய வரிசைகளில் காணலாம். 

திருஞானசம்பந்தர்

'சிவஞானத்தின் திருவுருவம்' என்று அடியவர் போற்றும் திருஞானசம்பந்தப் பெருமான், இரு கைகளிலும் பொற்றாளங்களை வைத்துக்கொண்டு நிற்கும் அழகிய காட்சியைச் சிவகாமசுந்தரி அம்மன் கோயிலில் வெளியே உள்ள விநாயகருக்குச் சமீபத்தில் காண்கிறோம்.

இச்சிற்பம் முத்துகளாலேயே அலங்கரிக்கப் பெற்றிருப்பது போலத் தோன்றுமாறு வேலைப்பாடு அமைந்துள்ளது.

கொள்ளை கொள்ளும் அழகு

இதன் பக்கத்தில் படத்திலே காட்டியிருக்கும் யௌவனப் பெண்ணின் தோற்றத்தை, துவஜஸ்தம்பம் இருக்கும் மண்டபத்தில் தெற்குப் பக்கமுள்ள ஓரத்துத் தூணில் காணலாம்.

இந்த யௌவன சுந்தரியின் தேக அமைப்பும்,முழங்கால் வரை தொங்கும் ஜடை அலங்கார அழகும், இந்தச் சிற்பத்தைப் பார்பவரின் உள்ளங்களைக் கொள்ளைகொள்ளுமாறு அதிசயமாக அமைந்துவிட்டன.

இம்முழுப் படத்தின் இருபுறமும் உள்ள பூக்கொடி வேலையின் முழுத் திறமையும் துவஜஸ்தம்ப மண்டபத்தில் காணலாம்.
