மாலைப் பொழுதினிலே : வேலன் பாடல்
பாடலாசிரியர் பெயர் இல்லாமல் இந்தப் பாடல் 'கல்கி' இதழின் முதல் தீபாவளி மலரில் (1942) மணியத்தின் ஓவியங்களுடன் வெளியானது.
பாடல் இங்கே:
இந்தப் பாடலைப் பற்றிய சில சுவையான தகவல்கள்:
பாடலைத் தீபாவளி மலரில் படித்த டி.கே.சி , உடனே ஒரு பாராட்டுக் கடிதம் எழுதி, 'யாருடைய பாடல் அது?" என்று கேட்டு , அதை 'கல்கி' இதழுக்கு அனுப்பினார். அதுவும் பிரசுரமானது ; ஆனால் பதில் இருக்கவில்லை!
'கல்கி' தனியாகப் பதிலை டி.கே.சி. க்கு ஒரு கடிதம் மூலம் தெரிவித்தார். டி.கே.சி.யோ அந்த மர்மத்தை 45-ஆம் ஆண்டு 'கல்கி' இதழ் ஒன்றில் உடைத்தார்! அந்தக் கட்டுரை இதோ !

பொன்னியின் செல்வன் -2 : சந்திராவா, மணியமா?

'ஓ சந்திராவா? ' என்று பேசிக் கொண்டோம். 'எப்போது தொடங்குமோ?' என்றும் எதிர்பார்ப்பு. திடீரென்று ஓர் இடி போல் அக்டோபர் 1 இதழில் இன்னொரு விளம்பரம்.

'ஐயோ, அவ்வளவு நாள் கழித்தா?' என்று ஏங்கினோம்.
உடனே, அடுத்த இதழிலேயே எங்களுக்கு ஓர் ஆறுதல் போல் இன்னொரு விளம்பரம்.

"அக்டோபரிலேயே? அப்பாடா! " என்று மகிழ்ந்தோம்.
'ஆமாம், இப்போது தானே 'பொய்மான் கரடு' க்குச் சந்திரா வரைந்து முடித்திருக்கிறார்? இப்போது 'மணியம்' டர்ன் இல்லையோ?" என்றான் ஒரு நண்பன். கணக்குச் செய்தோம். முக்கியமாக, நீண்ட 'அலையோசைக்கு'ச் சந்திரா. குறுகிய 'மோகினித் தீவுக்கு' மணியம். பின்னர் ஆகஸ்ட்டில் தான் சந்திரா வரைந்த 'பொய்மான் கரடு' முடிந்தது. இப்போது 'மணியம்' அல்லவா வரைய வேண்டும்?
கல்கியின் தொடக்கக் காலத்திலிருந்தே 'சந்திராவு'வுக்கும் , 'மணிய'த்திற்கும் ஓர் ஆரோக்கியமான போட்டி இருந்தது. பலரும் அறிவர். இந்தக் கட்டத்தில் , என்ன நடந்தது என்று பல வருடங்கள் கழித்துத் தான் எனக்குத் தெரிய வந்தது.
அவற்றைப் பற்றி எழுதிய கி.ராஜேந்திரனின் வார்த்தைகளிலேயே படிக்கலாம்!
சந்திராவின் 'பொன்னியின் செல்வன்' விளம்பரங்கள் 'கல்கி'யில் வந்தபின், கலங்கிய கண்களுடன் ஆசிரியர் 'கல்கி'யிடம் வந்தார் 'மணியம்'.
" என்ன? என்ன?" என்றார் கல்கி.
"அலை ஓசை பெரிய நாவல். தொடர்ந்து பல வருஷங்கள் அதற்கு சந்திரா படம் வரைந்திருக்கிறார். 'பொன்னியின் செல்வன்' பெரிய நாவலாக திட்டமிட்டிருகிறீர்கள். அடுத்து அதற்கு நான்தானே படம் வரையணும்?" என்று கேட்டார் மணியம். அவர் நா தழுதழுத்து விட்டது.
கல்கி அவரை மேலும் கீழுமாய்ப் பார்த்தார் ; 'சரி, அட்டைப் படம் போட்டுக் கொண்டு வா" என்று குந்தவையும் வந்தியத் தேவனும் பழையாறையில் சந்திக்கும் காட்சியை விவரிக்க ஆரம்பித்துவிட்டார்."
அடுத்த நாள், ஏதோ வேலையாய் கல்கி காரியாலயம் சென்ற ராஜேந்திரன் சந்திராவின் மேஜையை அணுகியபோது, சந்திரா, " போடா, போ! நீயுமாச்சு, உன் அப்பாவுமாச்சு! போ! போ" என்று விரட்டினாராம். இதைப் பற்றிப் பின்னர் கேள்விப்பட்ட கல்கி, " போனால் போறது போ! அவன் கோபப் பட்டதிலும் ஒரு நியாயம் இருக்கிறது" என்று சமாதானம் சொன்னாராம் கல்கி.
இப்படிப் பிறந்தது தான் இந்தப் பிரபலமான அட்டைப் படம்.

'கல்கியின் பட விளக்கமும் எங்களைக் கவர்ந்தது.
இப்படித் தொடங்கியது மணியம் அவர்களின் 'பொன்னியின் செல்வன்' ஓவிய உலா.
எங்களுக்குக் குஷிதான்! வாரா வாரம் 'கல்கி-மணியம்' விருந்தைச் சுவைத்து வந்தோம். நாட்டில் மேலும் பலரும் நாவலை ரசிக்கிறார்கள் என்பது 'கல்கி' 50 தீபாவளிக்குப் பின் 'கல்கி'யில் எழுதிய ஒரு குறிப்பிலிருந்தே தெரிய வந்தது. ( பலரும் இதைப் படித்திருக்க மாட்டார்கள் என்று நினைக்கிறேன்.) "பொன்னியின் செல்வன் சரித்திரம் அல்ல; சரித்திரக் கதைதான்" என்று அடித்து எழுதுகிறார் கல்கி ---- அன்றே!

மயில்களைத் தொடரும் மயில்கள்!
1943-இல் கல்கியில் வந்த இன்னுமொரு கவிச்சித்திரம் . மணியம் அவர்களின் ஓவியம்.
இடம் கொள் சாயல் கண்டு, இளைஞர் சிந்தைபோல்,
தடங் கொள் சோலைவாய், மலர் பெய் தாழ் குழல்
வடம் கொள் பூண் முலை மடந்தைமாரொடும்
தொடர்ந்து போவன-தோகை மஞ்ஞையே.
தோகை மஞ்ஞை - தோகையை உடைய ஆண் மயில்கள்;
தடம் கொள் சோலைவாய்- விசாலமான சோலையினிடத்தே;
இடம் கொள் சாயல் கண்டு- (தமது பெண் மயில்களின் பெருமைக்குரிய சாயலைப் பார்த்து);
இளைஞர் சிந்தை போல்- இளம் வயதினரான ஆண்களின் மனத்தைப் போல ;
மலர் பெய்தாழ் குழல்- மலரணிந்த நீண்ட கூந்தலையும்;
வடம் கொள் பூண் முலை- முத்து மாலைகளை அணிந்த தனங்களையும் உடைய;
மடந்தை மாரொடு- அந்தப் பெண்களுடனே;
தொடர்ந்து போவன- பின்தொடர்ந்து செல்வனவாம்.
ஆண் மயில்கள் சோலையில் உலாவும் பெண்களை சாயலால் மயில்
போன்றிருக்கும் அவர்களைப் பெண்மயில்கள் என்று கருதிப்
பின்தொடரும் என்றது மயக்கவணி. இளைஞர்: காளைப்
பருவத்தினரான ஆண்கள். இடம்: பெருமை. வடம்: முத்து
வடம். தாழ்குழல்: நீண்ட கூந்தல்.

சொக்கநாதன் ஆடிய சொக்கட்டான்
1965- கல்கி தீபாவளி மலர் அட்டைப்படமும், அதைத் தூண்டிய பாடலும். ஆடுதளத்தில் உள்ள சிங்கங்கள், ரிஷபங்கள் முறையே பார்வதிக்கும், சிவனுக்கும் உரிய "காய்கள்" என்று கொள்ளலாம்.
அந்த வடமொழி சுலோகமும், அதன் ஆங்கில மொழிபெயர்ப்பும். கங்கையைப் போற்றும் சுலோகம் இது.

சித்திரம்+சரித்திரம் = மணியம்
கோபுலு
அக்டோபர் 6, 1968 -கல்கி இதழ் அச்சாகிக் கொண்டிருக்கும் போதே மணியம் ( டி.வி. சுப்பிரமணியம் ) ) அவர்கள் மறைந்த செய்தி கிட்டுகிறது. கல்கி இதழ் உடனே ஒரு குறுஞ்செய்தி வெளியிடுகிறது.
அடுத்த இதழில் 'கல்கி'யில் வந்த அஞ்சலி இதோ.
